Accessorize Your Life

Whether your taking a walk on the wild side with animal print shoes, or making a bold statement with art-deco inspired single or asymmetrical earrings, there is something for everyone…..

While the fashion forward trends found at New York Fashion Week may be a bit extreme for you, they can be scaled down to fit your lifestyle.  Here, we’ll take a look at fashion trends with a local spin/interpretation.  This includes supporting local creatives and boutiques.  One of my favorite local artisans is Heidi Hull of Heidi Hull Designs.

Heidi Hull Designs is on a roll and en pointe with her most recent Everyday/Everywhere collection.  The above pieces encompasses the current Geometric Minimalism trend.  It is ideal for today’s modern woman, who enjoys an updated look while keeping her look simple and chic.

“Stark shapes will influence fashion, especially when it comes accessories, in 2018. Valani jewelry designer Heena Shah tells The List, ‘Geometric minimalism is going to be a driving trend in 2018. Specifically, hexagon and kite shapes will be finding their way into fashion, fine jewelry, and home decor.’ So geometric and gold jewelry, sunglasses and bags will be all the rage with you accoutrements.”  The List: Huge Fashion Trends You Need to Know 2018

Super chic and casual, with the added detail of a script or charm adds just the right amount of personalization for these delicate necklaces! The above necklaces are apart of Heidi Hull Design‘s Everyday/Everywhere line.  Classic and simple, yet very much a PNW fashion sensibility.

Delicates are great to layer with other delicates or even a statement necklace.  And sometimes a single delicate necklace is all you need!

Fringe and tassels are definitely having a moment!  The trend that was huge this summer will continue into the fall of 2018.  Whether it is fringe on a gorgeous leather handbag or silk tassels on whimsical earrings, this element definitely adds personality to your look.  The tassel earrings, pictured above, are from Heidi Hull Designs.

“A swishy explosion of colors and materials: tassel earrings…..

Not only colorful but with a swishy effect obtained with long, soft threads that frame the face and sometimes even touch the shoulders, a statement accessory that doesn’t need additional necklaces or scarves.

The poetic vibe of tassel earring lies somewhere between retro jewelry, recalling 30s pendants, and contemporary pieces that experiment with unusual materials. Coming in a myriad of hues, shapes, floral motifs and beads that make these earring truly trendy.

Wear them with a denim jacket or, as seen at Sachin & Babi or Versace (the latter for FW 2018), with a little colored dress, bare shoulders and tassels in line with the straps.

An earring style that takes us back to the flapper girls in the 20s, who wore lots of makeup and embellishments, the exuberant women in the Great Gatsby or recall flamenco dancers with their typical large, colored floral pendants. But we cannot forget to mention hippies and their ‘multi-fringe’ style.”

There is always room for a little bling, and this season is no exception!

When it comes to chandelier earrings: “Go big or go home, yelled the runways with the plethora of long, glistening, and uniquely shaped earrings that sashayed down the runway. Pair your epic earrings with a simple black dress for the fall season ahead.”  Who, What, Where: Accessory Trends – Fall 2018.

Whether you’re rockin’ a multi-colored faceted bracelet or long chandelier earrings, you’ll be the star of the show!  It’s really up to you as to how you want to shine!!

In the PNW, layers is a part of life.  So, if you are going to bundle up, do it in style.  This season, fashion meets function with these beautiful Suze Roher scarves (see above pictures).

Here’ what other fashion editors have to say:

“From puffer-style scarves to silky print kerchiefs, scarves are not only practical in colder months, but they also make for a statement bold look.  Tie them around your neck, head, bag straps, and ankles for a modern look.”  Who, What, Where: Accessory Trends – Fall 2018.

“With the arrival of the colder months, it’s natural to embrace the French girl aesthetic hidden in you and accessorize your looks with colorful, cheerful scarves. For the fall/ winter 2018-2019 accessory trends, scarves genuinely serve their purpose, since they come chunky and oversized to cover every inch of your neck and protect you from the cold outside.”  Glowsly Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Trends.

Belts are back, babes!  Glowsly Fall/Winter 2018-2019 Trends. puts it perfectly:  “An updated and industrial spin on the classic belt! Chunky hardware and straps give a belt an extra dimension of texture and infuse it with an urbane sensibility and classy lady who lunches appeal.

Simple leather straps and intentionally designed clasps are sophisticated by their very nature and create a cohesive wholeness that an outfit may otherwise lack. The most compelling reason to grab an elegant belt? It can utterly transform the classic turtleneck and jeans combo and endow a simple outfit with an upscale mood.”
